Surprise Proposal on the Beach – Waikoloa, Hawaii

Do you want to know how to take your surprise beach proposal to the next level? First – plan to propose on a beach in Hawaii, because – well duh. Second – hire a photographer to capture the proposal! (Hi, that’s us!)

Planning a Surprise Proposal?

We have made it our mission to make planning your perfect beachside Hawaii proposal as stress-free as possible. Why? We know that you probably haven’t done this before. We can help you with everything from choosing a location and figuring out exactly how to secretly get a photographer there, to dinner plans post-engagement.

To help – we have three different proposal scenarios all laid out for you to choose from. You can have your photographer be 100% hidden the entire time until you get down on one knee – or we can plan a super fun undercover operation so your proposal is a total surprise. Take your pick!

Our #1 Hawaii proposal tip

Our biggest tip is to make a reservation at a nice restaurant after your proposal. This is an easy way to make sure you are both dressed up without tipping your partner off. If you need restaurant recommendations, let us know, we’re happy to help! Our favorite Big Island restaurants? ULU Ocean Grill at the Four Seasons Hualalai or CanoeHouse at the Mauna Lani Auberge.

Make your surprise proposal extra special

The ultimate final touch is a haku lei (flower crown) as an add-on to your proposal photo session. These florals are custom-made on the island by local florists. They can be customized any style. Not sure what to go with? We recommend something seasonal – florists’ choice! We love hakus with lots of gorgeous tropical flowers, like what you see Nitya wearing in this epic beach surprise proposal! Need help ordering a haku? Easy – we offer them as easy add-ons when you book a proposal package.
