Every now and then I’ll get messages asking me about specific locations that I use for photoshoots here on the Big Island. For photographers – please know that while my heart is always always always wanting to help and lift up, I simply don’t share locations anymore because I’ve been burned way too many times in the past. I also believe it’s part of your job, not mine, to go out and scout for photo-taking spots that you feel you’d love to work at.
It may not be well known by non-Hawaii photographers, but you need permits to legally do commercial work on Hawaii beaches. Commercial work = being paid for photography, for example. Without a permit, you’re looking at big fines and the very real and very embarrassing scenario of getting asked to leave a location in the middle of a shoot with paying clients if you can’t show your permit. YIKES.
This is why I only do photo sessions at locations that are permitted and clients, don’t worry – the cost of the permit is included in your session fee and our team handles acquiring all necessary permits for you!
If you have any questions about permits, please feel free to ask me! I don’t know everything and I’m not the expert on this, but I have been pulling permits for over 5 years so I can at the very least point you in the right direction!
Interested in booking a Hawaii Vacation photo session for your family vacation or to celebrate a special milestone? I would be so honored to work with you all to capture your family visit to Hawaii with a stunning sunrise or sunset photo session on one of the beautiful beaches on the Big Island, Oahu or Maui. I’d love to capture memories you’ll cherish forever!
