Are you looking to purchase a flower crown (haku) during your Big Island, Hawaii visit? I’ve compiled a list of our favorite Big Island Flower Crown vendors! Also important to know that in Hawaii, these are called either hakus or lei po`o (translated: head lei). The names are not interchangeable and instead refer to the specific style used to weave and make flower crowns. Each vendor has their own style.
We love when clients order a flower crown for their Hawaii photo session. I sometimes get questions about wind and what our policy is on windy days. We do not cancel or reschedule sessions due to wind. The wind is just a part of life here on the islands and can be unpredictable.
So what can you do to combat wind at your Hawaii photography shoot? Wear a flower crown! Seriously, not only are these handmade works of art that you’ll cherish but they act as a headband and can keep hair off of faces and out of eyes. Genius right? Haku Lei, or a flower crown, can be customized just for you. Each one is crafted by hand by a talented florist here on the Big Island, and I have a list of florists that I strongly recommend and have worked with who I know will serve you well.
You should also know that Big Island Flower Crowns can last for a few days, so you don’t only get to enjoy them at your photoshoot. Feel free to rock them for a few more days as you enjoy the island!
