After three years of living on the Big Island, one thing I’ve noticed is that Oahu now feels like a “big city” to me. I’m so used to slooooooow Big Island living – no traffic, sunny skies, no crowds, did I mention no traffic?
Don’t get me wrong – I love getting back to Oahu. I was born and raised there after all so it does have a super special place in my heart! But man, that traffic is seven hundred kinds of brutal. But the trade-off is you get beaches with these gorgeous mountains in the background. So I put on my most relaxing car music, leave about a 1.5 hour “just in case” buffer and head to my Oahu photo sessions extremely early lol.
This west side beach is HUGE and that is one of the best things about it. I love huge beaches because we’ve got tons of room to run and play. At a session with little kids, feeling like you’re crowded and confined to a tiny space is not a great recipe for success. So the bigger the beach, the happier I am! You better believe this spot is on my Oahu photo session location guide. It is so hard to find an empty beach there so this gem is a top choice. It’s a far far drive out of town but it’s worth it – don’t you think?
Are you planning a family vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii? Let me capture your family visit to Hawaii with a stunning sunrise or sunset photo session on one of the beautiful beaches in on the island. I’d love to capture memories you’ll cherish forever!
