Family Sunset Session – Large Group Photography on the Big Island of Hawaii

Big family photography sessions always intimidate me a little bit! There are so many people to organize and only little old me to (hopefully) be loud enough and fun enough to get everyones cheerful cooperation. It is hard hard hard work. Like family portraits on a wedding day – getting everyone to look at the camera, smile and not be blinking is like finding a unicorn dancing on a rainbow.

This family was no problem AT ALL to work with. I mean, they were non stop smiling the entire time, so I couldn’t help but smile right along with them! I mean – I usually smile at my sessions, don’t get me wrong. But this was an infectious and loving kind of joy that really kept me going for their long photo session at the beach. It was a bit sad to say goodbye to them at the end of the session. I wanted to sit on the sand and talk story, as we say in Hawaii, with them for the rest of the night.

Thank you, Jaya, for trusting me to capture your beautiful family and making the trip out to Waikoloa to have your family photo session at this beautiful beach! xo
