Puako Family and Maternity Sunset Photography Session – Big Island, Hawaii
I’m always honored (and nervous!) when a fellow photographer vacations on the Big Island and selects me to work with their family. Once I get started the nerves are beat out by my excitement and this wonderful crew from Alaska was no different. Erica is an incredibly talented photographer and all around wonderful human being from Alaska. Her family comes to Hawaii often for vacation and she wanted to capture this particular trip to Kona because they were expecting their third little babe so very soon!
Erica wanted ‘traditional’ family photos at the beginning of their session and then opted for something casual, beachy and fun for the second half. Everyone changed into their swimsuits and we had a blast playing in the water! I mostly laid back and watched them play because they did it so naturally, they needed hardly any direction from me.
This is a great reminder that your session doesn’t have to look any way except the way that feels right to you and your family. Want to dress up? Awesome, let’s do it! Interested in keeping it casual and just playing in the sand in your swimmies and capturing those beautifully relaxed and natural memories of Hawaii? I am so down! Because at the end of the day, what you wear matters so very little compared to how much fun everyone is having.
