Hawaii Photography Mentorships
This past winter, I began offering mentor sessions to photographers and creative business owners. It was not a decision that I entered into lightly. But after many, many requests to “grab coffee” and talk business, I realized I had tapped into a way of doing business that was resonating with people and I had something to share.
I take the responsibility of helping a fellow business owner with their business VERY seriously. I’m not in this mentoring game as a cash grab and I am a completely open book. Same with any of my clients, if you choose to invest in me then I will in turn invest into you.
I have been absolutely floored by the response. I make room for 1-2 mentees each month and so far I’ve hit that number almost every month since March. I am so grateful to be teaching all I have learned to others to help them.
Dawn is a local photographer who reached out to me. Dawn is one of the smartest business minds I’ve ever met (she has a background in business management, so that makes sense!) but there were parts of her business that needed a bit of polishing. We met over many hours and ended our mentorship together with a side-by-side session where she tagged along as I photographed a sweet couple at one of my favorite locations on the Big Island. It was such a blast and in the months since we began meeting, I’ve truly loved watching Dawn’s business flourish and grow. And the thing is – she had it all in her already! I just gave her a boost of confidence and helped point her in the right direction.
