Bakersfield Lifestlye Family Photography – The Janssen Family

I have been trying to find my way into Lifestyle photography. It’s not a style of photography that is necessarily “in” right now, though the idea has been gaining steam in the past few years. But it is a style of photography that appeals to my intense desire to run away from overly-posed, somewhat awkward photos that ignore what makes REAL families, well, real. It’s less about posing, and more about what life really looks like. It makes my heart completely happy.

So let’s cut now to the Janssen Family. The way little Maddox says “babyanna” whenever you ask about his baby sister absolutely melted my heart. I struck some kind of photographer lottery with this crew. Sweet, beautiful, welcoming, fun, energetic and excited. Also look at little Maddox! That red hair! Those eyes! That smile! 

I did a model call a few weeks ago and had no idea what I would get. It’s pretty bold to ask people if I could go into their homes to document an average day in their world, because I really really do believe that is beautiful. From our very first emails, Sam was totally game. She was all in with the lifestyle concept and her enthusiasm was so encouraging and validating, and for that I am so grateful to her.

I have several more lifestyle sessions lined up in the next two weeks but am looking to keep the momentum going and fill up my summer calendar with lots more.
