Mauna Lani Hotel has a rich history, dating back to ancient Hawaii. The area where the resort is located was once home to Hawaiian royalty and was considered a sacred place. The resort was built on land that was once a sugar plantation, and the developers wanted to honor the area’s history and culture. As a result, they incorporated many traditional Hawaiian elements into the resort’s design, including a fishpond that was once used to sustain Hawaiian royalty. Personally, and especially since their re-opening in 2020, this is my favorite resort on the Big Island. And my team and I love doing a photo sessions at the beach right in front of the hotel! I have been doing sessions at this resort for almost ten years! That’s why I love being a Mauna Lani Hotel photographer.
If you are staying at the Mauna Lani Hotel – the pure convenience of having a photographer come to you is unmatched. And these are a few of our favorite things as experienced Mauna Lani Hotel photographers about the beach in front of the Mauna Lani:
It’s a winner! Because it is a smaller beach and the hotel pools are so wonderful, the beaches are rarely busy! And we can move to a few different beach spots if one of the beach areas is somewhat crowded. It’s so nice to have options.
Mauna Lani Hotel has received numerous awards and accolades, including being named the “Best Hotel in Hawaii” by Travel + Leisure. The resort has also been recognized for its sustainability efforts and commitment to preserving the environment. Mauna Lani Hotel is a member of the prestigious Preferred Hotels & Resorts group, known for its exceptional properties worldwide.
Even if you aren’t staying at this resort, it is worth planning a visit to Canoe House. This is one of the best restaurants on the Big Island. Everything on the menu is spectacular, but my husband and I enjoy ordering the chef’s menu for the evening. This is six courses, impeccably timed and plated, and each bite will have you smiling. We love love love this restaurant! After your session with a Mauna Lani photographer, just a few steps to Canoe House.
Our second favorite is Ha Lani! For breakfast, lunch, or dinner, this place never disappoints. Are you having a sunrise photo session at the Mauna Lani beach? Grab the eggs benedict at Ha Lani after your photos. For dinner – don’t miss the Keohole Lobster Mac N Cheese!
Are you planning a big family trip to the Big Island and staying at the Mauna Lani? Our team would LOVE to work with you! Our sweet spots include extended family reunions and big family vacations. Please send us a message today to schedule!
