Not every photographer does large family photo sessions. This is because, well, they aren’t always the easiest! It is a lot of groupings. Usually, a ton of little kids and kid wrangling. The trick to nailing Extended Family Vacation Photos
Did you know photographing large families is one of my superpowers? And I specifically sought out other local photographers who were naturally great with large family groups to join my team. The real secret for me is being great with names. Believe it or not, this one little trick goes a long way when you’re working with a large group. No one likes to be addressed as “hey, umm… you. Wait. What’s your name again??”. It doesn’t give people much reason to let loose and have fun with you if you can’t remember their names.
So whether there are two people or thirty people, I make it a point to remember every name in the group! And then, before you know it, we’re making magic together because everyone feels comfortable!
