Oahu is such a fantastic family-friendly island. There is so much to do and see. From epic hikes, Pearl Harbor Memorial (a must-do!), great food, shopping, and beach days – Oahu is obviously such a special place. And a fun fact, Oahu is where I (Aislinn!) was born and raised. Staying at Aulani Disney Resort on Oahu?

Aulani Resort is a luxurious Disney-owned resort located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The resort sits on 21 oceanfront acres of Ko Olina’s beautiful lagoons and features stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Aulani Resort offers a unique blend of Hawaiian culture and Disney magic, obviously making it a popular destination for families and couples. The resort offers many amenities and activities, including a water park, a spa, multiple restaurants, and various entertainment options.

The beaches in front of the resort are restricted to outside photographers. The best I can tell, this is new in the post-Covid world. And though all beaches are public by law in Hawaii because these are technically “man-made lagoons,” they can make them private, and therefore, we cannot get our usual commercial permits for Aulani.

The good news! A few nearby beaches are gorgeous and less crowded, AND we can get permits too! This beach is one of those spots; we love this option for family photos on Oahu.
